A Century of Innovation from Nyco
The Nyhan Company, also referred to as Nyco, has a long and successful history in the janitorial supply industry. It was established in 1920 by Vince B. Nyhan and began by selling Chippewa bottled water before expanding into powdered cleaning products. Alex Evans bought the business in 1954 and moved it to a new location in Chicago.
Robert (Bob) Stahurski joined Nyco in 1964 and started creating cleaning formulas for the janitorial industry. Due to his success, Nyco relocated to a bigger manufacturing and storage facility in Chicago in 1968. As a master distributor for Continental Manufacturing in the janitorial supply sector, Nyco joined the distribution market in 1979.
Several Nyco employees, including Bob Stahurski Sr., Bob Houston, and Jim Shea, bought the business in 1985. The following year, Bob Stahurski Jr. received a promotion to Nyco's President, a role he held up to the end of 2018. Under his direction, Nyco continued to be a significant player in the janitorial supplies market. Stahurski Jr. was chosen to lead the Sanitary Suppliers Wholesalers Association (SSWA) in 1993.
Nyco introduced Chem-Prix chemicals in 1994, which quickly rose to the top of the company's fastest-moving product list. The Chem-Prix brand gave distributors an advantage, further establishing Nyco as the industry leader in cleaning supplies.
In 1998, Nyco relocated its production facilities to a new 65,000-square-foot structure at 5332 Dansher Road in Countryside. With the assistance of four additional chemical manufacturers, Nyco established the ChemBlend International Alliance five years later.
Nyco has always made it a priority to encourage a cleaner, safer, and healthier environment. The e.logical brand was used by Nyco to debut its first five Green Seal-certified products in 2005 at the ISSA (International Sanitary Suppliers Association) trade exhibition in Las Vegas. The most lucrative brand Nyco has ever introduced was Marvalosa the year after. Bob Stahurski Jr. was chosen to lead ISSA as president in 2009.
Nyco updated its corporate brand in 2011 and added a colorful swoosh to its logo. In 2012, the firm bought the Zing brand of boat cleaners as part of its ongoing product range expansion.
In 2014, Nyco and Eastman Chemical Company collaborated to develop the OM series, a line of I&I cleansers that make use of the ecologically friendly Omnia molecule. The OM series has received the highest grade on the Safer Chemical Ingredients List from DFE and is certified by Safer Choice.
In 2018, Nyco celebrated 50 years as an ISSA member. Nyco continues to expand under the direction of John Wunderlich, who was appointed as the company's president in 2019. Today, Nyco manufactures a wide range of cleaning chemicals, such as cleaners, disinfectants, floor care chemicals, and other specialty chemicals for various industries, and its compliance department ensures adherence to all regulatory requirements.
Nyco has stayed dedicated to offering premium cleaning products and top-notch customer service throughout its existence. Its founder's vision and the dedication of its staff members over the years are both responsible for its ongoing success.
